In Every Season

If you know me, you know I have a habit. – Every season, I declare, “This is my favorite season!”

When summer arrives with its long days and warm sunshine, I can’t imagine life getting any better. More time outdoors. More trips to the beach. Time on the boat. Evenings spent on the deck, soaking in every bit of daylight.

Then fall rolls around…and suddenly, I find myself saying, “Nope…this is my favorite season.” Everything begins to slow down. Pumpkin shows up in just about everything. The evenings become perfect for rocking on the porch with a blanket, candles flickering nearby, and crisp air replacing the summer heat. My mind begins planning our annual Thanksgiving gathering, one of my favorite family traditions.

And then comes winter. Out come the Christmas decorations. The lists begin. The manger scene finds its familiar place in our home, reminding me of the greatest gift ever given. And if we’re lucky enough to get a snowstorm? Even better!

Of course, somewhere around Valentine’s Day, I’m more than ready for spring. Ahhh…my favorite season. Flowers begin to bloom. The grass turns green again. Trees wake up from their winter rest. Everything feels fresh, hopeful, and full of new life.

So maybe it’s finally time for me to admit something…I don’t have a favorite season.

I love them all. And I think that’s exactly what God desires for us. Life was never meant to stay in one season forever. There are seasons of celebration and seasons of waiting. Seasons of growth and seasons of pruning. Seasons filled with laughter and seasons filled with tears. The beauty isn’t found in staying in one place. It’s found in trusting the One who walks with us through every season.

Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us: “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” And no matter which season we’re walking through, our calling remains the same: Praise Him.

Not just when life feels like summer. Not just when everything is blooming. But in every season.

Right now, I’m enjoying a summer season in more ways than one. I’m surrounded by beautiful flowers, preparing for our family vacation, and now that I’ve retired, I’m finally tackling outdoor projects that have waited far too long. It’s a slower pace, one I’m learning to embrace.

And recently, someone very special gave me this beautiful reminder.

Every time I see it, I’m reminded that the difficult seasons don’t last forever. The sadness. The uncertainty. The waiting. The heartache. They are seasons—not permanent destinations.

Just like summer gives way to fall… Fall to winter…Winter to spring…God faithfully carries us into what comes next.

So wherever you find yourself today, don’t lose heart. Enjoy the season you’re in. Learn from it. Rest in it. Grow through it. But don’t build a home there. Because God is already preparing the next season. And in every single one of them…Praise Him.

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” — Psalm 34:1

And I just have to ask….What season are you in right now?

Is it a season of joy? Waiting? Healing? New beginnings? Grief? Growth?

Wherever you are, remember this—you don’t have to rush through it, and you don’t have to stay there forever. God is walking with you, just as He has in every season before. Stop and pray about whatever you are feeling. Here’s a snapshot of my prayer journal today –

I’d love to hear from you. Share your season in the comments, or simply write one word that describes where you are today.

Thanks for stopping by. Blessings to you! –Bev
