Worry Turned into Peace

Worry has consumed me for many, many years. I would lay awake at night worrying about every little thing. Trust me, that’s not healthy. It takes a toll on you and honestly steals all the joy! No matter what, it seems worry has a way of creeping into our lives quietly. It starts with a small thought—What if something goes wrong? What if I’m not prepared? What if things don’t work out? Before long, our hearts feel heavy and our minds become crowded with fear.

But my friend, God never intended for us to live in constant worry. His Word offers something far greater: peace that surpasses understanding. And boy have I learned that. I have to admit that about 50% of what happens in my life doesn’t make sense. I don’t understand. But through faith, I have learned to find that kind of peace. It is such a great feeling. And even when I wake during the night, I now pray. I pray for God to help me fall back to sleep. To clear my mind. And to allow me to have the peace he wants me to have.

Why Do We Worry?

Worry often comes from the desire to control what we cannot. God certainly knows I love to try and control situations. We want certainty about tomorrow, solutions to problems, and reassurance that everything will be okay. We worry about what we can’t see. We worry about what we don’t know. We just plain worry. It is so important to live in the moment. Why waste a good day by worrying? Life is short. And we know this. All of this. But we still worry. Agree?

The truth is, we don’t control the future—but God does.

When we try to carry every burden ourselves, worry grows stronger. But when we place those burdens in God’s hands, something powerful happens: our hearts begin to rest.

God Invites Us to Release Our Worries

This is one of my most favorite verses. I say this ALL the time! And it’s known to many as one of the most comforting promises in Scripture…..found in Philippians:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6–7

This verse doesn’t say we will never face stressful situations. God uses the challenges, the trials and tribulations to continue to show us his Faith, Love and Promise. Instead, this verse teaches us what to do when anxiety appears.

We bring everything to God. Every fear. Every unanswered question. xEvery burden.

When we pray honestly and thank Him for His faithfulness, God replaces anxiety with His peace.

Replacing Worry with God’s Truth

Our thoughts shape our emotions. If our minds are filled with fearful “what ifs,” worry will grow.

But God’s Word gives us truth to stand on.

When worry whispers:

  • “You’re alone.”
God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
  • “You can’t handle this.”
God says, “My grace is sufficient for you.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  • “Everything might fall apart.”
God says, “I am working all things together for good.” (Romans 8:28)

Meditating on these promises renews our minds and strengthens our faith.

A Simple Practice for Turning Worry into Peace

When worry begins to rise, try this simple faith practice:

  • Pause and Pray – Tell God exactly what is worrying you.
  • Give it to Him – Imagine placing your burden into God’s hands.
  • Speak Scripture – Remind yourself of God’s promises.
  • Thank Him in advance – Trust that He is already working on your situation.

Over time, this habit transforms worry into deeper trust. Please give it a try. It has made such a difference in my life. I also wonder if some of my family actually wonder why I am at peace when our life is so crazy. I guess that’s my secret 😀

Thanks for stopping by. Blessings to you! –Bev
