The Jesus I Know Now: When Worship Meets Real Life

Worship has a way of meeting us right where we are—but every now and then, a song comes along that does even more. It invites us to reflect, to grow, and to rediscover who Jesus truly is in our lives today.

The Jesus I Know Now” by Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson is one of those songs.

It’s more than a collaboration—it’s a testimony of transformation. A reminder that our understanding of Jesus is not meant to stay static, but to deepen as we walk with Him.

Growing in Our Understanding of Jesus

I don’t know if you are like me but truly, it’s amazing how my view of Jesus has changed over time. There was a time I knew Him through a child’s eyes. Childhood faith, through what I was taught, or even through seasons of struggle (yes, I had them even as a chlid). But as I continue walking with Him, learning about him, really understanding, I begin to see more clearly His grace, His mercy, and His presence in my daily life.

Scripture reminds us: “Taste and see that the Lord is good…” (Psalm 34:8) This kind of knowing isn’t distant or theoretical—it’s personal. And often, like the message in this song, we come to realize there has been grace in our lives that we didn’t fully recognize at the time. Now, we’re learning not just to see it—but to receive it. Have you accepted his Grace? I have even found myself giving more grace to others.

Worship That Extends Beyond Sunday

One of the beautiful things about worship is that it doesn’t begin and end within church walls. I listen to beautiful songs whenever I can. In the car, in the kitchen, sometimes even in the background while I work.

Romans 12:1 calls us to offer our lives as a “living sacrifice”—a continual act of worship.

Songs like this remind us that worship happens:

  • In the quiet moments of prayer
  • In the middle of busy, ordinary days
  • In seasons of joy and in seasons of struggle

Artists like Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson are helping bring this message into everyday spaces—pointing people back to a real, present relationship with Jesus. And that’s something the Church needs to continue embracing and encouraging.

A Message for This Moment

We are living in a time when many are searching—not just for answers, but for something real.

A real hope.
A real peace.
A real relationship with God.

This song resonates because it speaks to that longing. It reminds us that Jesus is not distant. He is present, active, and deeply personal.

He meets us right where we are—and lovingly leads us forward. And he actually likes us. Not just love, but likes us.

Reflecting Together

As a church community, let’s take time to not only listen—but to reflect.

Consider these questions as you engage with the song:

  • How has your understanding of Jesus grown over time?
  • Can you identify moments in your life where God’s grace was present, even if you didn’t recognize it at first?
  • What does it look like for you to live a life of worship beyond Sunday mornings?
  • How is God inviting you to know Him more deeply in this season?

These aren’t questions meant to rush through—but to prayerfully consider.

Closing Encouragement

Our journey with Jesus is ongoing. We are continually learning, growing, and discovering more of who He is. And the beauty of that journey is this: no matter where we’ve been, He meets us right here, right now. Maybe today is an opportunity to pause, listen, and reflect. To worship—not just with songs, but with our lives. And to embrace, with fresh awareness and gratitude, the Jesus we know now.

Thanks for stopping by. Blessings to you! –Bev
