Making a Difference from Afar: Supporting Hope of Life in Guatemala

There are so many ways to make a difference, but one that has truly touched our hearts is supporting Hope of Life.

Hope of Life is an organization based in Guatemala that is committed to caring for children and families in need. They provide essentials like food, clean water, medical care, and safe housing, while also supporting children who are vulnerable or at risk. What makes their mission so meaningful is their focus on long-term impact—helping not just meet immediate needs, but truly change lives over time. Through sponsorships and mission work, they are reaching communities in a powerful and lasting way.

Our church has played a key role, specifically in two villages, providing sponsorship for hundnreds of children, food for all and wells which provide the water they didn’t have. Visiting twice a year brings so much joy to the church and the families. Even for those that don’t make the trip, videos and pictures shared by the team make us feel like we are there. Baptisms even took place in the back of a truck during one visit. Seeing these folks in person definitely makes the mission feel even more meaningful.

One of the most special parts of this journey for us is sponsoring an 8-year-old little girl from San Juan. Each month, our support helps provide her with meals and basic necessities—things every child deserves. We also get to send her packages twice a year, including a birthday box filled with both practical items and a few fun surprises just for her. It’s so much fun shopping for her. We included pictures of our family, and even a little something from West Virginia, the state where we live. It takes months to arrive, but knowing she will receive something put together just for her makes it all worth it.

It’s a simple act, but it creates a real connection—and a reminder that even from far away, we can show love, care, and support in a tangible way. Hope of Life is doing truly impactful work, and we’re grateful to be a small part of it. 💛

Jesus is all about His children – These verses remind us –

• “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:13-14
