Good for the soul ✞

I look at this as my intentional moments set aside to focus on God, reflect on Scripture, and grow spiritually. These ‘reads’ provide a quiet space in the midst of everyday life where a I can pause, pray, and reconnect with my faith. Reading short story/devotions allows me to put things into perspective and give me purpose or sometimes even as a ‘pick me up’. All the stories seem to fit what I have been going through or anticipate. Many people begin their day with devotions to center their thoughts and invite God’s guidance before facing the challenges and responsibilities ahead. Others choose to end their day with devotion as a time of reflection and gratitude. I actually do both.

A typical devotion may include reading a passage from the Bible, spending time in prayer, and reflecting on how the message applies to daily life. This practice encourages believers to deepen their understanding of God’s word and strengthen their relationship with Him. Through consistent devotions, individuals often find comfort, wisdom, and encouragement that helps shape their attitudes, decisions, and actions.

Devotions are not about perfection or lengthy rituals but about sincere connection. Even a few quiet minutes can provide clarity, peace, and renewed purpose. Whether done alone in silence, written in a journal, or shared with family or a small group, devotions can become a meaningful habit that nurtures faith and keeps spiritual priorities at the center of life. ✨📖🙏

But my friend, a devotion can be anything you want it to be. It comes in many different sizes and shapes. One for women. One for men. One for teens. Themed. Daily. Some are actual journals that provide a space to write your thoughts. Some even start with a scripture, move to how to apply that to our life/day to day and then end with a question. How many of us have seen the Daily Devotion for just about every walk of life?

To me, daily devotions are a heart connection. They reach into the places of encouragement. And so they inspire and motivate. Devotions help us worship God with enthusiasm and love.

And if you aren’t into books there are other forms. Calendars. Apps for your phone/iPad. There’s basically something for everyone. I highly encourage you to find one that works for you as a way to deepen your faith and relationship with God. It only takes a few minutes each day to continue to build a strong foundation.
